Hey guys, jsut want to check and see if anyone has any info or any comments on the wake/overall performance of a 84 American Skier, I have the chance to pick one up that is in mint condition for a really good deal. This will be my first boat, and the only reason that we are looking at something older is cause it's our first boat for me and my brother and we can;t afford the big bang new boats so something like this one is what is in out budget so any info at all would help a tun, wake pics would help aalot to!! Thanks for your help.

It is a slalom boat. It is designed to have flat, soft wakes at 30-36 mph. For wakeboarding, it will be OK, but you will need to experiment with weighting it. I think it will like a bit of bow weight to avoid washout.

It has wood stringers, so get a competent inspection. Check the motor mounts for play and corrosion. Plan on replacing the shaft pack right away. It needs a 10.5-11.5 pitch prop to get the weighted boat moving.

What Kind? Is the the closed bow competition slalon ski boat? If you are going to pay $5000 to $10000 try for a Nautique '2001' or a Supra SunSport.
