Well I've decided it's time to bring the gloves back out. Planning on taking a fight this January. A good freind that fought on the last card with me is planning on makeing a run for the pros this year so I figure this is a good excuse to join him and get back in shape and into the ring. But this will be my last time in the ring. I'm hoping to manage my buddies career. Hopefully it could be quite lucrative.

When it comes to boxing or mma I am such a hypocrite. I love to watch it but I cant for the life of me understand why someone would want to get into a ring and beat on another human being...

I decided to get back in the ring last year
I discovered that things have changed since I was 19
for instance, I no longer enjoy getting punched

I will not be taking a fight

Hell yea! I did tournement Taekwondo for 9 years then about 6 months ago I started training in MMA. I haven't done a mma fight but I have done some GI/No GI matches. Good luck and mad respect for jumping back in the ring.

I haden't trained seriously in 15 years....when I was 19, I actually didn't really mind getting hit....but at 34, I found myself more tired and recovering less quickly, of course, but I also noticed that the type of blows that would not really phase me in my prime had me dropping my hands and covering up my gut more. the same punches to the gut that wouldn't really bother me had me losing my wind more often.

When I was 19, I looked forward to "body work" workouts, where we would go rounds taking punches to the gut. This year, I started having nightmares about it the day before a scheduled body work session, because I knew it meant 6 or 7 rounds of agony.

I have come to terms with it, though. I'm not a kid anymore. Good luck, have a safe training and fight, and win!

I always thought that it was interesting that Cameraboy could be both a bleeding liberal and a tough guy. It is truly a rare combination. No judgement there, just an observation. Most tree -hugger, we all should be equal types are pussies. Star to you Cameraboy.

I still picture CB as the kid who was beat up throughout his public education for lunch money. Guess that's one form of "fighting."

Oh, I'm no tough guy. Nor am I a bleeding liberal.

Occasionally, in boxing or jui jitz class, I am a bleeding semi-tough guy, though.

I have ring work right now on my calf. Any of you jui jitz or wrestling guys got any better remedy than tough actin' tinactin? I've had this siht for over 4 weeks now, and it's not completely gone.

CB,

I bet you have had to learn to take a punch! The thought of how many guys that have taken a swipe at you to shut you up is probably surpassed only by the names in JT's black book.

I'm by comparison a wussy. I've never taken a punch so I'm chicken if it ever does happen. There is always someone who'll kick my ass and my luck it would be from a little fella like CB....oh the razzing that would happen; I'd rather be KO'd by a chick.

In my youth, I could take a punch very well, and I didn't really mind getting hit.

Now, I hate getting hit. I hate it. I even hate holding the thai pads during striking workouts. I took the month of June off to take a spanish class at the local community college, and I am DREADING going back and getting hit again.

If I've accomplished nothing else on this board, and I am pretty sure that I have accomplished nothing else, at least now some of you know that not all people with liberal leanings are limp wristed homosexuals sitting in their leather backed chairs in their offices at Yale.

Any more than all conservatives are motor-sport loving, shotgun rack pickup truck driving, neice banging rednecks.

Actually, check that. I'm using Lotrimin. It seems to be working slowly.

My wife is 8 months pregnant, and, unfortunately, it looks like I gave it to her. Her doctor said that the stuff I'm using is safe for her, but I have doubts and am a little nervous.

cameraboy,

Cut sugar out of your diet. That means rice and pasta too.

Your wife should be fine. Have her watch the sugar, and find a GOOD yogurt for her to eat lots of. (like Nancy's http://www.nancysyogurt.com/) Fungus and pregnancy tends to go hand in hand.

If you can not stomach the dairy foods, add probiotics to your diet as well.

The above combo might not cure your fungal issues... but it will help your body fight them.

My buttercup has yeast issues every once and a while, adding yogurt to her diet and bathing her with dandruff shampoo will clear it up faster than anything the vet gives us.

Also CB... if your wife has fungal issues after birth Gentian Violet, pro biotics for mom and baby will be your best friends.
