| I got my raleys on lock down and was wondering how hard a hoochie glide is. If you have tried it did you eat it real bad. I was wondering how hard it is to pull back with only one arm on the rope. I keep thinking that i wont pull it back so i never try it. |

brazosfreak05, Try a raley, and just lift your front hand off the handle a little bit and feel the tension. It's not too hard to pull under, especially if you're doing you raleys right. It'll come quickly, but it'll take a few tries for your hand to meet the board _________________

The key to a hoochie is taking in a crouch knee edge into the wake verses the standard raley cut. You also want to take a more progressive almost slower edge and really concentrate on popping off the wake while maintaining bent knees to lift the board into your hand. If you cut in like a raley, you will not get the grab. Cut in more like you would do an indy tantrum _________________ Liquid Force

ilubronix, good advice...it takes a little courage to let go of the handle...I have not though about slowing the approach.. _________________ www.wakeboardoklahoma.com

Slope, all going big requires is that nice progressive edge...i guarantee you will be much more in control with a bent knee'd progressive edge really being able to concentrate on your pop then an out of control raley cut. anyone that i have ever taught hoochies too and even myself when i was learning them back in the day figured it out the hard way after thinking "no way man, its a raley, i have to cut like one" and then you eat it. _________________ Liquid Force

ilubronix, Your right..I ate enough for all of us..I threw a few today..water was white caping so did not try to go big..but I feel like I will have them dialed next trip or 2...I really want the batwing though...My TS is weak..I have base TS inverts TS Front is dialed and TS Back is 85%..I figure it will be like a raley though..stick it a few times and then its money after that... _________________ www.wakeboardoklahoma.com

Slope, the great thing about a batwing unlike raley tricks is you dont need to learn it going big...you can throw them out a little at a time until you get the feel of letting your hips out, we call mini batwings chicken wings lol. But yeah, go in for just a normal toeside wakejump and practice getting the board behind you, should really help and it will make your technique very good for batwings _________________ Liquid Force

dani, i started doing raleys by pulling my rope in as far as it would go (sadly for me it was 70 feet, but still perfect) and slowed the boat down to where i would consistently go wake to wake when edging in like a raley. i believe boat speed was about 20? you just throw it up and yank it back down. the first one i did was realllllly sketchy but felt great. i kept doing them over and over, speeding the boat up as i went. then i went to full-length rope and normal speed and BAM! i was solid on them.
check out the first trick in my video here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci-t5olL_58
the day before is when i started raleys, so you can tell it's really not that hard as long as you start them out easy and work your way up. good luck! |

brazosfreak05, keep trying it. Like ilubronix said, pop it more so you legs don't fly out wildly, and reach down, not back. The board will not be directly behind your shoulder, but more like right above your butt. _________________
