|
|
Hi!
Im about to get a new board, my first one Iv been kneeboarding for about 2 years now, but dont was trying wakeboarding last summer and really liked it. Even though it was only for about 2 days
But now when looking around for a board to buy, i noticed Wakeskating.
Iv read some about wakeskating being easier when not having a big wake. I have a 16 footer sportsboat with a 50 hp Tohatsu outboard which dont make such a good wake. (hence i cant jump high enough with my kneeboard to do 180's and 360's with my non-fiberglass board)
What i understand is that with wakeskates and wakeboards you can pop a bit better using your legs?
Wakeskates is a bit cheaper also, but ill give you a pic of my wake to let you know how big the wake is.
(Didnt land that one, but it was close )
Another one to show the wake
Tips would be appriciated! This saturday im going to the local Boatshow in Stockholm, so maybe im going to buy a board there.
Thanks in advice! |

How do you kneeboard for 2 years? I would at least start with wakeboarding. You can always have both too |

| Snce I assume that is the top of an outboard that I see in the photo, I would recommend a wakeskate. |

I got a kneeboard from my parents because i thought it would be fun to try as it isnt that many people kneeboarding here in Sweden. And everyone can use a kneeboard (my little sister) as it dont have any bindings.

Yes thats true. Its an outboard. First time i was behind it was last summer. The year before i was boarding behind another even smaller boat.
How hard is it to wakeskate? I have been skateboarding a bit when i was younger, only dooing ollies and drinds as i wasnt able to do kickflips etc.
Is it harder on water or will i even without much skateboarding have a nice time learning tricks?
Thank you! |

I enjoy both wakeboarding and wakeskating. As soon as I can upgrade to an inboard, I'll enjoy wakesurfing too. |
Onfortually its one or the other, or ill end up buying 2 of the cheapest boards LF and Obrien can offer. |

I agree with HHI Dave... A $150-200 combo (good used or end of season wakeboard and boots from '06) and a $50-100 wakeskate is a great combo.
I was never a skateboarder. I spent most of my gear money on a wakeboard and a good rope, then went to Academy and bought the $79. wakeskate that they have.
A lot of folks on this site preach buying top-o-the-line stuff from the beginning. I agree that it would be nice to be able to do that.
After 4 seasons, I can still just barely ollie the skate, do small inside out jumps, lipslide, and spin. Besides a garage paintjob, the same POS skate is still working fine for me. |

A Liquid force Omega is about 360 $ with one-size-fits-all boots in Sweden. Are there any less expensive LF boards, like the trip or witness?
And a wakeskate (liquid force Faction) is about 175 $.
Why are things so expensive here, you guys have great prices of your stuff
Either its going to be a pretty expensive but yet beginner-friendly wakeboard or wakeskate, or a bit cheaper things and ill get both.
But since we only get like 3-4 months of riding (cold water) it feels like i should focus on only one thing
This is hard |

Okey Guys!
Like i told you before i went to the Swedish Boat Show today, and got a wakeboard with me home
Its a Gator Boards Caddy 142 (2007 $380.00 USD) and a pair of Alkaline G-Force boots (made by the Swedish gatorteamrider Gustav Lidmalm) for a the same price as the LF omega with on-size-fits-all boots.
The seller also got me the " Air Nautiques Australian Protour 07" DVD and a quite expensive rope for no charge.
I got the board for half the price it was sold last season, a really nice buy
Here's a pic of it.
Now i just need to wait for the water to become a bit warmer...
Oh, and thank you for your help! Really appriciated! |

Shaf, while that is not a bad rope and handle combo, especially since it was free, but sometime in the future you're gonna want to upgrade to a spectra rope (non-stretch) and that will help your riding greatly _________________

Hmm... The seller told me i could chose between 2 ropes, one with a bit of stretch, and one without. He told me the one i chose was a rope without stretch :S |
