I have some questions about some vehicles. They are completely different, but would like to know your thoughts on each.

The first is an SUV. The Volvo XC90 2004 model and up, comes with an I-5, but optional I-6. Any feedback on this SUV

The other is a car, the Mercedes C320 2003 model and up. Prefer the 320 for the luxury and engine options.

What are your pro/con thoughts on these vehicles? Other options? (here comes the Audi, I know)

The Volvo is the first choice, but due to gas mileage, the car may be the better option.

haugy, I would skip the Mercedes C320 and go with the Audi R8.

haugy, the XC90 is nice as hell, but it is a gas pig.

Those C class rigs are nice. I'd prefer the E46 over them, but it's not my money. The Benz will return you premium costs for any maintenance, so be prepared.

What about an XC70? Or a V50? Or are these two cars sitting on your lot right now and you have to pick between them?

chavez, not sitting on any of the lots. And not dead specific on them. But I know these two were top of the list, so I was trying to see the highs and lows of them before anything happens.

That's what I thought about the XC90 being a gas hog. And yeah the Benzo is gonna cost in maintenance.

I like the XC70, but I have been advised........strike that, threatened not to get a wagon. Laughing

E46 is a BMW right? 3-series? What years are those?

Any of those cars will demand your first born for any maintenance work. I have owned 3 MB's in my life and 2 Volvo's. Both brands were very expensive to maintain. They were all beautiful and reliable vehicles. If you are stuck on European, IMHO, I would say the MB is the best of the bunch.

Laughing I heard the same thing about wagons when I was thinking of avants.

The e46 is a great BMW platform. I want to say that the last year was 2005. And they began that body style with 99 and there was a facelift in 01? Great vehicle, but again, maintenance prices can be an issue.

See if you can find a C230 Kompressor, and 6 speed manual

PimpinD2, Plenty of Kompressors around, but I have heard nothing but service nightmares about them. And a manual is out.

I am not dead set on European. Especially since I can get a newer, nicer Escalade for the price of one of these. (Of course gas mileage isn't better) but at least this thing can tow and haul more people.

I just read on Consumer Reports that the XC90 is in their used car list of Cars to Avoid. Shocked

So basically, what you're saying is that now that girlie has a ring, she needs a car and you are in charge of getting it. That about right?

Hopefully that isn't an engagement ring, because it doesn't really sparkle and I don't see a stone.

I think the XC90 are very pimp.

But why would you want one of those and a F150

haugy, now that you've mentioned safety, definitely look into the Audi A4... Seriously I've seen some terrible wrecks over the years and these cars absolutely destroy themselves to keep the passengers safe. If you look up the safety rating on them, The B6 is at the upper echelon of safety...

AWD will also keep her going in the right direction, hopefully. Besides, then we can chat about Audi's. Laughing Laughing

Why buy her one ring when you can buy her four?
