Well NLI day is tomorrow, so why not get it started. It looks like Ty is bringing in solid class, I would have liked to see more defensive standouts but I'm happy overall. I can't way to see Locker have Kavario Middelton as a target in two years. _________________

I'm sad that Texas is likely going to lose yet another last second attempt at big time OOS recruit in Darrell Scott. I'm betting he ends up a Buffalo.
Top 10(ish) class w/ a couple of real standouts and the sting of having to see 3 of the top 6 in TX go to OU.
Aaron Williams #1 S (could be VERY special a la Mike Huff)
Nolan Brewster #16 S
DJ Monroe #5 CB (ranked fastest and 3rd most athletic in this class)
Dravanti Johnson #13 ILB (and stolen from aggy)
DeSean Hales #1 All Purpose RB (he'll play more WR/slotback)
Jeremy Hills #6 All Purpose RB (still too small for my likes)
David Snow #8 OG
Mark Buchanon #18 OY
Justin Tucker #4 PK
Dan Buckner #16 WR (3rd best hands - next in line to wear #4)
DJ Grant #45 WR (would have been ranked higher, but was a late bloomer - going to be a SERIOUS stud. Actually wish he would stay on the D side of the ball)
Jarvis Humphrey #5 DT
Kheeston Randall #18 DT
(all rankings rivals national ranks)

Psshhh...all I gotta say is that we got Kevin Hart. Sort of. Well, not really. I guess it just depends on who you ask at this point, and since the Cal staff can't comment in either direction due some silly criminal investigation, we're just gonna have to cross our fingers and hope! _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

senorbueno, I'm hoping against that very, very hard. The "experts" all predict a Bama LOI. Good lord I hope so! |

Scout has A&M at #12 and Rivals at #15. Sherman did a good job of keeping the existing commits and adding a few blue chippers (Cyrus Gray & Jeff Fuller). I've been pleased with his recruiting so far. It should be interesting to see how well his NFL game translates to college. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Jeff Fuller's a stud. Great pick up for you guys.
Derrick Hall, Rod Davis, Tony Jerrod are all guys I like too. Tommy Dornan could end up "better" than his ranking. |

jt09, sounds like Rod Davis is still making up his mind. Dorman was up to a 4* at one point but dropped back down on Rivals. I'm not sure why. Still 4* on scout.
It should be an interesting QB and RB situation at A&M next year. I don't know what we're going to do with Goodson, Stephens, Lane, and Gray. If Lane doesn't drop some pounds he might get left out. I don't understand how through the course of a football season with practices and games every week you can gain 30 pounds. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

jt09, any specifics? I hear rumors about texas all the time. I'm not really sure what to make of them.
How often do you think players get paid? I'm not naive in thinking that it doesn't happen, but I would imagine schools wouldn't risk it. Boosters on the other hand... _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

I have no idea. Just regurgitating interweb BS.
Do I think players get paid to commit? Yeah. I don't think it happens a ton, but yeah, I'm not naive.
Curious as to who you have heard about at UT Brad? I can almost 100% (as much as anyone who follows recruiting as closely as I do can) say that UT doesn't pay players to commit. I do know for a fact that there are players who get envelopes w/ spending cash from boosters. Nothing huge, just a coupe of hundred here and there. That one I KNOW. (that was hoops players, but again, I'm not naive enough to think that isn't happening for football too) |

FWIW - as of 10:20 am CST, all Texas LOIs are in, minus Nolan Brewster. And Scott, of course.
edit: Brewster is in. Slacker. |

Dpierce37, just go to ESPN.com. Also on ESPNU. They'll stream his press conference live there. 11:45 our time.
Pay attention to the way he says "I'm going to Colorado." I want to see just how "excited" he is to go there or if I'm just imagining things to sooth my heart. |

Yeah, he looked THRILLED about going to CU. I think he even misspoke in response to a question from the host and said "Texas" instead of "Colorado" at one point. |

Sedrick Johnson signs with ISU. Freakin idiot. Chizick is such a douche. Selling him that he won't be able to make the grades at A&M. "Come to a weak ass academic and hellhole of an athletic school and play for me where you will never be seen. Why? Because it'll be easier."
If he's that much of an idiot he probably wouldn't be able to cut it at A&M.
Now we just need Rod Davis.

From the DMN recruiting blog. Pretty much the rumor that's been out there for a while. Nice job of throwing Major Applewhite under the bus by Hawkins.

My step sister is Josh Smith's girlfriend. Josh Smith is Darrell Scott's uncle & Darrell Scott's mother's brother. He's a freshman WR at CU. Per her, Darrell's mom was offered a great job at a bank in Boulder by a huge CU fan as an enticement to get Darrell to come to CU. My step-sister didn't know what kind of $$$ the job pays, but Josh told her it was a huge increase over her current job. She apparently still has to "interview", but the job was promised to her should Darrell come to CU. Josh had told her that Darrell apparently told his recuiter at Texas and their head coach that he was Texas bound as recently as Saturday afternoon. The job offer was fully extended on Sunday, after being discussed prior to the CU coaches visiting Darrell in CA last Thursday or Friday. Darrell's mom then cut off all communication w/ Texas and had Darrell call Texas Monday evening to tell them he'd changed his mind. I asked my step sister how any of this could be legal, but she said that Josh had said that it was all perfectly legal b/c none of the promises/offers came directly from the CU staff. They were apparently aware of the offers though. She also said that Josh had said that Darrell was pretty sold on Texas, but a lot of questions were brought up by the CU staff regarding some new guy they hired at Texas to coach running backs. Apparently, he's a real sleezy guy, and CU explained that's why he'd been at 4 schools in 4 years as a coach. Take it for what it's worth, but that's what my step-sister Ashley told me yesterday. |

jt09, wow. I can't believe he bought into the Applewhite story as a reason. Although he's not a RB coach the guy has character.

That "friend of a friend of a friend in the know" story is cute about D-Scott's mom being offered some job at a bank out here in Boulder. It would be even more amazing if she's ever worked at a bank.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/07/sports/ncaafootball/07preps.html?pagewanted=1&_r=2&ref=sports
Check out the last page down toward the bottom.
Whoever made up the bank story is pretty sad. _________________ "I think it was two ninjas taped together to make one giant ninja."

NU did a good job attempting to save face. NU will be better than last year, but they will still blow.
In other news!!! I was just in Boulder trying out for American Gladiators (f*ck yeah I did ) and the Buffalos are still a bunch of a-holes. |

You came in to town and didn't call.
Dude. Dude. Dude.
Just for that I hope Helga creamed you in the Gauntlet!
Holer fan.
Wait, did I say "creamed", "Helga" , and "Guantlet"? I meant to say "hucklebucked", Titan, and Shower room.
Nice location for an awesome campus wasn't it? _________________ "I think it was two ninjas taped together to make one giant ninja."

Rocko, really? They had tryouts here in Dallas and a few friends and I thought about going for it. Looks like fun but we didn't figure we could make it (this is when they were trying out for candidates and gladiators) _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Sofa King, sorry bro. I was in and out of that town so quick, wasn't even funny. Yeah, Helga is scary. German engineering at it's finest. Yeah, that campus is very pretty, too bad there were Colorado people there.
Wakebrad, the tryouts were the hardest thing i've ever done in my life (physically) and i'm in the best shape i've ever been.
No breaks what so ever in between stages.
Stage 1 - As many pull ups (palms out) as you can do in 30 seconds
Stage 2 - As many push ups (military style up downs) as you cna do in 30 seconds
Stage 3 - Balance and foot work, the ladder things on the floor.
Stage 4 - 10 Suicides (running lines in basketball)
I wasn't acclimated to being so high above sea level, after I got done with the suicides my ears were shut completley (deaf) and my eyes were about as red as my face. I was in the worst pain in my life, obviously I need to pump up the cardio. Honestly though I puked 3 times after it was all done, there were plenty of people puking and passing out. This was for gladiators and contestants too. |
