My wife recently started wakeboarding.
She can get up when she's being pulled by a boat (2.5 hours from my house) but she can't get up on the cable.
I can do it but I sure can't explain how to.
Anyone teach someone else how to get up on the cable ? _________________ //============================//

She should try a start in sitting! And if she pulls the nose into the water, help her and put it into the air!
Should work! _________________ Go Wake- Don't Suck!!! |

just sit down on the bench (assuming there's one on the starting dock) and right before or just when the rope gets tight slide off fo the bench, squat down, and put your weight on your heel. also if she's short she may have a problem b/c the board isn't sitting in the water while she's sitting on the bench. if the first way doesn't work after a while then have her try standing on the bench and so a standing jump start. i work at a cable and sometimes the standing is easier for people. |

yes. cable start. I start on a cable.
ahhh... here it comes:
ok, a cable park is essentially a modern twist on wakeboarding whereby a wakeboarder is pulled along by a rope on a cable on a track. The rope is a good 30 feet in the air, and the idea is that when the cable turns the track, the wakeboarder edges against the turn and at the critical moment pops out of the water and gets mad height. I have a video of parks getting 28 feet of air So, with a cable start, you are basically getting up behind a cable park and it's a lttle different than getting up on a normal dockstart behind a boat.
uuggghhhh... That took a long time _________________ The consciousness of self is the greatest hindrance to the proper execution of all physical action.

ya thanx Nathan, i do ride cable, i have been away all week so i didnt answer this before, my best advice would be too: She should put all her weight on her back foot, dont lean back to much though, just let the cable pull her up gradually. Her hands should be at her hip when she starts, and she should make sure the tip of the board doesnt go under, have it out of the water when she starts, i usually jump, i find it funner (is that a word) but if she is still having problems, you would have to tell me what she is doing, then maybe i could help further....good luck |
