Tbonez, no it didn't. It was bad, good (playoffs), good (playoffs), bad.
Making the playoffs 2 out of 4 and having an overall winning record ain't too shabby. It's not stellar, but it ain't all bad. _________________

I havent reviewed his playoff record but I can say that his regular season was worse every year...If memory serves me right USC didnt really want him so he obviously had some challenges coming from the pros... _________________ You know you own someone when you can agitate them enough to quote you in their signature. |

chavez, MY Pats? I'm a Cowboys fan, jerky! Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins, but no Pats. I was already an indoctrinated Cowboys fan by the time I moved East. |

Johnathan Stewart is also going to go into the NFL draft this year. I don't care what anyone says, he was amazing this season, even when he was hurting from the turf toe. _________________ wakeboards

Well, maybe it's not a done deal, but...
Quote: | "We've got the 'permission to speak' letter from the University of Michigan, and we should have the official transfer release from them this afternoon," Arkansas compliance director Marvin Caston said Monday.
Mallett, a former five-star quarterback from Texarkana, Texas, is in the process of enrolling at Arkansas. He also appears to be settling into his new surroundings.
Mallett checked into a dorm room on the university's campus on Monday morning, a source close to the team told The Morning News. | http://www.nwaonline.net/articles/2008/01/14/razorback_central/011508uafbmallettupdate.txt
Not that I really care, I'm not much of a Hogs fan. But they do need a better quarterback. And now that McFadden and Jones have declared for the draft, the Hogs need to find themselves an offensive threat... _________________

I doubt anyone really cares, but Major Applewhite did accept the RB coach position at TX today. Welcome home Major! |

Should we expect to see a lot more half back pass a la Jorvorskie Lane?

Why not? Not unusual in the slightest for position coaches to coach positions other than what they played. He's already coached OL and QB, and been an OC.
When I was coaching lacrosse I coached the offense 90% of the time because my assistant coach was a defensive guy. I never once played offense in 15 years (other than just screwing around). You simply learn what you need to help your players excel. |

Yeah, I understand it. He seems like a good coach and I guess as an assistant you have to be in charge of something. I was hoping he'd come to A&M and coach QBs. He interviewed for it. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Pretty sure that isn't true. I know Sherman wanted to talk to him, but I don't think he ever went to CS and interviewed. |

Yeah, it's all rumors and speculation. I heard he interviewed and was interested but who knows. I'm not willing to pay $10-12 to get the inside scoop. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

I don't think he would interview for a position where he had to take a pay cut AND a title/responsibility cut. I don't think he would have taken a title cut anywhere but UT, honestly. Dude's going to be the highest paid QB coach in the NCAA! $250K (matching his Bama salary) from what I hear. That's insane. |

I talked to a friend last night who is a "subscriber" and said that Applewhite was interested back when we had Sumlin lined up for the OC. When Sumlin bounced for UH Applewhite lost interest. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Well, I do know that it seems like Major was likely not long for Bama, no matter what.
Quote: | The Alabama blog surmises that Applewhite as OC was an experiment that did not work out. Saban was supposedlly reluctant to let someone with MA's level of experience have control of the offensive schemes and the game planning, so the offense was a kind of three headed monster with the older experienced OL coach (Pendry) heavily involved in the planning and scheme design . According to the blog, Saban did not think the situation worked well and planned to bring in a more experienced coordinator and demote Applewhite to QB coach. Applewhite was not happy with the original arrangement and the demotion did not sit well, so he jumped at the chance to come here. That was the blogger's spin anyway. |
and
Quote: | 1. He really didn't like Saban or the staff.
2. He was having problems with his "Co-OC" Pendry (of Texans fame); Pendry was apparently angling for more control.
3. Major may have been pissed about being thrown under the bus after the MSU game, when he didn't have much say over the gameplan.
4. Major and his wife apparently hated Tuscaloosa.
In short, while he had a good title, it sounded like a bad situation that could have gotten worse. Now he gets to come home, to a town and program where he is reverred and will be respected, and gets to work for a Head Coach that is a class act. Not too shabby.

Hope UCLA has some coachable QB's. With Chow and Rick, they're going to have a lot of complex offensive schemes to digest. _________________ "I'm scared if I stop drinking all at once, the cumulative hangover will literally kill me." |
