so my board got stolen last season, and i didn't worry about getting a new board cause i was originally supposed to be moving to Florida for school, but i opted not to.
I'm 6'5 , 215 lbs, and i was riding a Nitro Magnum 165, i was wondering if anyone could tell me what Wide boards would be decent for a guy my size, that would be good in the park, I'm trying not to go bigger than 165, brand isn't really and issue, i want a good ride more than anything

Your height and weight don't really have anything to do with the Width of the board, your shoesize does (what is your size?) as far as boot overhang etc.

Those wide boards for people with bigger feet I heard can be a little slow responsewise with initiating & linking solid turns.

Personally I would try risers on a regular width board if I had a very large shoe size.

Checkout the Burton Custom Wide...maybe the 167 based on your weight....the Width is 260mm which really isn't that wide....I have seen some manufacturers make "Wide" models that are ridiculous.

depending on your boot size... if you need a wide check out:

Nitro: Misfit Wide
Rome: Slash (Wide Agent), Machine
Ride: Dose (Wide DH)

As already mentioned above, your boot size is what is going to matter. I personally would advise going for the the most narrow board you can w/o having major overhang of toe/heels, but even then they make riser plates to prevent the toe drag. You might want to try taking a look at Atomic and Rome's line of boards.

The problems with Burton = you're paying an arm and both legs for the name when there are excellent equal boards with different brand names on them.
2. Because everyone, snowboarder or not knows the name Burton, that will be among the first choice of thieves to steal.
3. You are forced to either buy burton brand bindings OR the bindings of your choosing have to have 3-hole compatible plates to work with a Burton.

H20orSnowLetsGo, Rome's arn't cheap, they are pretty expensive and I also agree try not to get the Burtons.

well, i think i've decided to go w/ either the Rome Slash (also considering Machine), or the GNU 11UP... does anyone know how good the magnetraction really is? i live in pa, we get ice about 90% of the season
as for burton boards, i know they are overpriced for the quality of board, i had one once. this'll be my 4th board, and i havn't repeated brand names, haven't found anything that truely impressed me yet.
I where a size 13, so i know im gonna need in the 260 width range.
As for a wide board having a slow response, i disagree, my last board was wide and i had no problem whipping it around on demand, i think its more a matter of having a wide board when your foot size is on the boarderline of needing to go wide or not

danbrett, I have friend who works at a boardshop he said the magnetraction works well, and has had no negative feedbacks about it. My other friend got a Lib Tech(dont know which one) and has magnetraction he likes it, and he does mostly park.

I really don't think a wider board will have less response and if there is then it probably wont be very much.

I just checked out that Nitro Team looks good but if you want to go into the park wouldn't you want a twin tip?

i thought the Team was a twin tip, and plus it seems that nitro designed it for the park based on the "terrain and style Rating"

Based on what you told me:
Weight, shoe size, park/freestyle rider and you ride east coast ice:

I would go for the Lib Tech Dark Series 164 Wide with Magne Traction...its 26.5 on the width.

marcq, i would but unfortunatly, i hate the idea of dropping $470 for the slash, or 11UP, so i'm not going to spend $599 for the dark series, unless of course, i could get ahold of a pro form and get it for half price, that'd be sweet stuff
