Just bought one of these:

It's the Thule Ascent 1100. Should hold all the skis, boards, and boots. No more smelly trunk. Laughing

As a bonus, I can use it in the summer to transport wakeboards, vest, and such.

Can't wait for snow!

I miss my Thule, just remember boots and clothing in the car on the way up, going home do what you want. Cool

jryoung, yeah. Considering my boots will be plugged in to the 12V in the trunk getting nice and toasty on the way up, I wouldn't do it any other way!

Gonna be nice for Summer too. Wakeboards take up way too much trunk space.

I have had one on my blazer for like 8 years now.... only comes off when I need to wax under it. Let me know how yours works.... I used to work for Yakima & then Thule so I am interested in what they are trying to do now? Is it dual side opening?

Wazzy, yeah, that was one of my "required" items. There is a similar less expensive model called the "Frontier" but it lacked the dual opening and had the raw/crackled abs finish.

The Cascade is a smooth black finish, with a more rigid shell, and a neat one step clamping system instead of u-bolts. Appears to be fairly aerodynamic too, so hopefully there won't be too much noise from it.

I think for '08 all there boxes have the clamping system instead of the Ubolts now. Except for the cheap ones. I like that ascent though, it's a lot slimmer(height wise) then any box I've seen.

Is the clamping the one lever one piece design?? I never got to see that in action we were working on it before I left.

the slimmer boxes don't carry wakeboards very well because the bindings don't fold down like on a snowboard....

Wazzy, I figured that I would just pull the bindings. The problem is the boards fitting in the trunk.

The attachment is called the "QuickGrip" system that has two arms that grab the rails at each point.

I called it the "Cascade" above. I did mean Ascent. Only 11" above the bars.
