Long story short, we hit a submerged log on the way back towards the ramp while riding. At least we got two sets in beforehand.
Hopefully it won't take to long to get parts, so we can ride in Sept.

Styk33, holy crap. You're missing an entire blade on your prop and it tore your rudder completely off?
That's a bad impact!

I was very close. I'm just happy I was driving and not any one else. My circumstances were different. I was on Folsom one evening a couple years ago. They are usually very good about marking submerged spires (columns) of rock. Long story short, I was about 150 yards at least from shore, pulling a rider, making a turn and bam! End of session. We were the last people on the lake and had to gimp it home as it looks. We got it fixed and I've been ever so careful since then.

I am missing a blade on my new prop (15 hours on it) and my rudder is gone. Feeling bad or getting upset will not change anything. It sucks, but hopefully I can get it repaired in a timely matter and be back on the water.
The river is way low right now. 24-30" lower than last week. Funny we avoid a section that is really shallow and it happened about 3 miles up river of that section.
I was towing my buddy when it happened. 23.5mph. There was a rope tied to the log that I hit. It was still on the shaft after I stopped.
Not sure about the tranny, all that will be checked. The motor is fine though. I will let everyone know how it all ends up.

| i doubt with $3500 of damage you would get any insurance company to total the boat. get it fixed & get back on the lake!

Styk33,
Where do you normally ride that is shallow? North of I-5?

Stupid logs. Happened to us 2 years ago when it caught the Bu wedge, missed the prop but bent the wedge 90degrees and split the rudder backwards and cracked the transom. got it back after like 2 weeks good as new. Thanks for insurance. but that's DEFINITLY a sound i don't EVER want to hear again, not with my new boat. blah.

Tie a jug, anything, to the log!
Good idea to carry a 1/2 gal bottle and some twine in the boat for that purpose. When I see one, I take the time to pull it ashore. A thankless job that nobody appreciates until it happens to them!

Simplemind, We do the same thing if we aren't pulling a rider. Good etiquette.

we didnt see anything wrong so we drove back, pulled the boat out no problem....
week later we had the boat in the water n it was runnin funny...
turns out we hit a rock or somethin and made a hole in the back of the lower unit, which destroyed it which turns out to cost a TON!!!!!!!

How about this BRAND NEW 24SSV ( 14hours ) actually it was the second prop, the first one went on day one. Also note that none of the fins were touched.

Man I don't feel so bad now, I barely damaged my prop after 20 hours. We found a rock right under the prop where it is tied up to the dock. Damn 300 dollar rock.

flatwater, looks like only one screw left holding your strut on. No blades, ouch.
Estimate should be back today. Hopefully I can get on the water soon.

flatwater - Holy Cow! Looks like you hit more than a log.
Are you sure your boat wasn't attacked by a roving band of rabid prop beavers?

oshensurfer, did the same thing as you at Lake Oroville. Early April, water raising because of spring rains. Pretty far from shore, at least 50' if not more, and hit a pinnacle of a rock. Took us 4 hours to gimp it back, but at least we weren't sinking. $5,000 and a month later, we were back on the water. Boat only had 25 hours on it. Sucked.

This isn't my boat for starters, I don't think I could admit doing such damage on such a new boat. I don't know all the fine details but apparently the boat hit a rocky point. OUCH is an understatement.

I feel your pain. I'm just after getting a new shaft, strut and prop installed with a $2000 bill for dessert. They need to invent softer rocks
